Built for working professionals, our flexible program can be completed in as little as 15 months, or you can complete the courses at your own pace to accommodate a busy schedule. The MRED curriculum provides a solid foundation in market analysis, finance, investments, leadership, negotiation, and urban planning - everything you need to know to be successful in the real estate industry.

The one-year MSRED Program prepares students for rewarding, responsible leadership positions in the real estate industry. The course of study is rigorous, balanced and grounded in professional practice to help students achieve a broad understanding of all aspects of real estate.

The curriculum is a demanding course of study that balances theory with practice and focuses on the real and practical needs of the industry, a defining characteristic of an MIT education. The program also benefits from MIT’s interdisciplinary tradition, which encourages academic work that transcends departmental boundaries. The student body generally reflects the mix of professions within the industry.

The NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate offers cutting-edge, globally focused curricula including a real estate bachelor’s degree, real estate and real estate development graduate degrees, a construction management graduate degree, real estate continuing education, and real estate executive education. All programs focus on experiential learning and are taught by leaders in academia and seasoned real estate professionals. The MSRED program is designed as a 37-credit, 12-course curriculum that can be completed on a full-time or part-time bases in 1½ or 2½ years, depending on the course load taken by each student. Students can enroll for a fall or spring semester start. All students complete a self-driven, comprehensive capstone project under the mentorship of faculty and a professional adviser.

The Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development (MSRED) degree is an interdisciplinary one-year graduate program that prepares students from diverse backgrounds to become effective and influential participants in the fields of real estate finance, design, and development. We equip our graduates with a blended education in business, economics, sustainable design, urbanism, and legal issues. The MSRED degree is practice-oriented and emphasizes opportunities for students to gain experience and build a professional network in innovative for-profit, nonprofit, and public settings.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours for their real estate major that includes an accompanying double major or minor related to real estate. Required classes include but are not limited to: Principles of Real Estate, Careers in Real Estate, Professional Development in Real Estate, Applied Real Estate Development, Real Estate Data Analysis, Real Estate Market Analysis, Financing Real Estate Projects, Real Estate Studio, Real Estate Law, and Managing and Leasing Commercial Properties. Other courses available for students to take include Real Estate Appraisal, Building Construction Principles, Real Estate Marketing, Business Writing, and Multifamily Property Management and Operations.
