ULI has earned a 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the third consecutive year. ULI has received the award for its efforts promoting energy-efficient and sustainable buildings and for its thought leadership on net zero and energy conservation throughout the real-estate sector.

ULI has earned a 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes ENERGY STAR® partner businesses and organizations in good standing that demonstrate superior leadership, innovation, and commitment to environmental protection through energy efficiency.

ULI has received the award for its efforts promoting energy-efficient and sustainable buildings and for its thought leadership on net zero and energy conservation throughout the real-estate sector.

This year, ENERGY STAR® placed ULI in its Sustained Excellence category, reserved for partners who consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership year over year.

“ENERGY STAR® is an invaluable resource for leaders in the real estate industry seeking to advance energy efficiency and decarbonization in their portfolios, especially on the journey to net zero,” said Ron Pressman, ULI Global CEO. “This recognition is critical in helping us build the business case for net zero emissions, with the over 100 leading real estate firms in our ULI Greenprint community and our 46,000 members globally. As a proud partner, we will continue to promote best practices that enable our members to combat climate change in the diverse communities they serve across the United States and worldwide.”

“As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “I applaud this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for working with EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs.”

In 2022, ULI promoted numerous resources in line with ENERGY STAR® goals to its U.S. members through various reports, articles, and webinars, including:

  • Targeted webinars and events at the local and regional level on topics ranging from demystifying ESG, to sustainability policy, to tenant engagement, to the path to net zero.
  • Urban Land magazine articles focused on benchmarking and energy efficiency proving foundational to the path to a net zero future.
  • Strategic education on the new EPA Building Emissions Calculator in support of measuring real estate’s journey to net zero and reducing carbon risks.
  • New ULI research and content, including State of Green: Greenprint Performance Report Volume 13, with increased benchmarking data due to the dramatic rise in ULI Greenprint membership representing over 11,000 U.S. assets.

ULI also congratulates the fifteen ULI Greenprint member companies that were recognized as 2023 ENERGY STAR® award winners: BentallGreenOak, Boston Properties, Clarion Partners, Commonwealth Partners, Hudson Pacific Properties, Jamestown LP, Kilroy Realty Corporation, LaSalle Investment Management, LBA Realty, MetLife Investment Management, Nuveen, Paramount Group, SL Green, Tishman Speyer, and Vornado.
