Jill S. Cavanaugh

Jill Cavanaugh, AIA, AICP, is a partner at Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners. In nearly 25 years of practice, Jill has led the planning and design of some of the most complex and transformational projects in Washington, D.C. Cavanaugh’s area of expertise is in the integration of design, historic preservation, and environmental planning in civic architecture. She has completed successful design modernizations at numerous historic landmarks and sites of cultural significance, including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, Carnegie Library, U.S. Capitol Building, and Washington Union Station. Her international portfolio includes planning and design work at the Holy Mosque in Mekkah and dozens of embassies and consulates worldwide.

Although developers are skilled at building senior living communities that satisfy basic residential and health care needs, and that provide programs and amenities to cater to a variety of lifestyles, creating authentic, home-like environments that feel instantaneously familiar for this younger cohort is far more challenging. Such nuanced characteristics are distinctions in the market and can greatly ease the transition into senior living communities, not only for individuals, regardless of acuity level, but also for their families.
