ULI Global Chairman Tom Toomey closed the record-breaking 2018 Spring Meeting by outlining advancements in ULI’s new strategic direction. In Memory of ULI Life Trustee Frederick Kober, Chairman of the Board of the Christopher Companies
ULI Life Trustee Frederick Kober, chairman of the board of the Christopher Companies, passed away on March 17, 2018, in Los Gatos, California, following a lengthy illness. He was 80. Kober, who joined ULI in 1970, was named a life trustee in 2005, a recognition reserved for the Institute’s most dedicated and respected members, and bestowed to only 15 members in ULI’s 82-year history.

Final Four Teams Announced for ULI Hines Student Competition
A graduate student team from Cornell University, two teams from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a team from the University of Maryland have been selected as the four finalists for the 16th annual ULI Hines Student Competition, an ideas competition that provides students the opportunity to devise a comprehensive design and development scheme for a large-scale site in an urban area.

Hines Gift to ULI Will Support WLI Grants
ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) has received a $90,000 gift from Hines, the global real estate organization, to support the creation of the WLI Hines Innovation Grants, with the goal of helping raise the visibility and number of women in leadership roles in the real estate industry and within ULI’s membership.

In Memory of Architectural Historian Vincent Scully
Internationally acclaimed architecture professor and architectural historian Vincent Scully, 2003 recipient of the ULI J.C. Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development, died November 30 at his home in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was 97.
