While economic recovery in the United States is far from over, it is critical that ULI experts share best practices in community-centered development and ethical leadership to educate others about what good development looks like—and make way for the new generation of developers and other commercial real estate professionals who are emerging out of underserved communities and ready to make a difference.
Supported in part by the Urban Land Institute, the Diversity in Commercial Real Estate Virtual Summit brought together more than 450 attendees in November. The focus of this year’s summit was diversifying the commercial real estate industry from the executive leadership and entrepreneurial perspective. In past years, the summit drew primarily from the greater New York City area, but by going virtual it was able to attract a larger pool of attendees and speakers.
The ULI/REAP Virtual Fall Academy launched with more than 150 candidates enrolled in the live and on-demand programming running through graduation in mid-December. Participants were also invited to ULI’s Fall Meeting and provided with ULI memberships to jump-start their professional transition.
Project REAP (Real Estate Associate Program), which has been connecting multicultural professionals to the commercial real estate industry for 22 years, is launching its first 100 percent virtual program in collaboration with the Urban Land Institute—the ULI/REAP Fall Academy 2020.
