There is broad support to allow accessory dwelling units, duplexes and triplexes in residential neighborhoods, according to a new Zillow survey covering 26 U.S. metro areas. A clear majority of homeowners surveyed (73 percent) voiced support for at least one of these “modest densification” options, and support was higher among renters (84 percent).

The spring 2020 issue marks William P. Macht’s last as author of Urban Land’s widely popular column, Solution File. While the column will continue under other expert bylines, we wanted to take a moment to honor Macht’s past 20 years of contributions to the magazine and to industry thought leadership.

Wayne S. Doran passed away in early February at age 87 in Dearborn, Michigan. Doran was a ULI Life Trustee, Foundation governor, and a longtime product council member.

Opening doors to help diversify the industry is a goal of the WLI Prologis Achievement Award. The annual awards are given to women who are ULI members with at least seven years of real estate experience. They must have exhibited leadership in their district councils or on the national or global level to be selected for the award, which funds the winner’s participation at the ULI Fall and Spring Meetings.
