ULI has earned a 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the fourth consecutive year. The award recognizes ENERGY STAR® partner businesses and organizations in good standing that demonstrate superior leadership, innovation, and commitment to environmental protection through energy efficiency.

ULI has received the award for its efforts championing real estate’s accelerated journey to net zero – the first step of which is through energy efficiency—across its Greenprint community of practice, ULI membership broadly, and the industry overall.

This is the second year that ENERGY STAR® placed ULI in its Sustained Excellence category, reserved for partners who consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership year over year.

“As ULI continues to make the business case for real estate sustainability, we appreciate ENERGY STAR for its steadfast commitment to energy-efficient, low-carbon, high-performance buildings,” says Marta Schantz, co-Executive Director of ULI’s Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate. “Our continued collaboration with ENERGY STAR can have a profound impact on our communities, and on the planet. ULI and ENERGY STAR can work together to catalyze our industry’s progress to net zero carbon—and make our cities healthier and more equitable, more resilient and sustainable in the process.”

“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda creates unprecedented opportunity to build a clean energy economy, and private sector partners through programs like ENERGY STAR are leading the way,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “I congratulate this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for their innovation and leadership, in delivering cost-effective energy efficient solutions that create jobs, address climate change, and contribute to a healthier environment for all.”

In 2023, ULI promoted numerous resources in line with ENERGY STAR® goals to its U.S. members through various reports, articles, and webinars, including:

ULI also congratulates the nineteen ULI Greenprint member companies that were recognized as 2023 ENERGY STAR® award winners: Avanath Capital Management, BentallGreenOak (BGO), Boston Properties (BXP), Clarion Partners, Commonwealth Partners, GID, Hines, Hudson Pacific Properties, Kilroy Realty Corporation, LaSalle Investment Management, LBA Realty/Logistics, Link Logistics, LivCor, MetLife Investment Management, Nuveen Real Estate, Paramount Group, SL Green, Tishman Speyer, and Vornado Realty Trust.

Marta Schantz is the co–executive director of the Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate at ULI, which leads the global real estate industry in creating buildings and places where people and the environment thrive.
