Mark Taylor, AIA, LEED AP

For over 20 years, Mark Taylor has dedicated his career to building community-centric, mixed-use retail environments that inspire, entice, and delight. Passionately championing both flexibility and collaboration, he approaches projects from both sides of the coin: keeping the client’s concerns at the forefront while simultaneously bending the rules where possible, bringing to light unique design solutions that are greater than the sum of their parts.

Taylor helps lead MG2’s integrated sustainability practice by cultivating wellness for the communities we serve. He specializes in reducing carbon, energy, and water use across our diverse projects while reuniting people with nature. Taylor is endlessly inspired not only by the unique challenges he and his team tackle daily, but also by foundational rituals such as sketching, building woodworking projects with his daughter, and teaching martial arts to the next generation.

People are the lifeblood of any city, and they define the urban environment that we covet. Our cities have always been alive and dynamic. How do we keep them that way? One answer: ground-floor activation. When the right spatial considerations are met, cities stay dynamic and, in turn, help us all thrive. The design tactics we use at the ground level are second nature—energized, active frontages; mixed-use developments that open onto streets or plazas; punctuated by pedestrian-friendly design with clear signage and plenty of greenery.
