The 17th edition of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate® Asia Pacific, the regional real estate forecast jointly published by ULI and PwC, highlights a downtick in investor sentiment due to concerns over the rising cost of debt, higher inflation, and a looming global recession. A dip in regional transaction volumes is apparent, with the third-quarter deal count in the Asia Pacific falling 38 percent year-on-year to US$32.6 billion, recording the lowest third-quarter volumes for a decade in the region.

Lars Huber, the CEO of Hines Europe, has been appointed as ULI Europe Chairman. Huber, who succeeds Marnix Galle, Executive Chair of the Board of developer Immobel, will serve on a voluntary basis for a two-year term starting on July 1.
The Los Angeles Better Buildings Challenge in June presented sustainability prizes to the “Best Buildings” in Los Angeles at its annual Innovation Awards. Hudson Pacific Properties, Barings, and CommonWealth Partners, which are both active members of ULI Los Angeles and Greenprint, were among the six projects honored.
Thirteen outstanding real estate development projects have been named the winners of the 2022 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence, one of the real estate industry’s most prestigious honors. This year’s winners include five projects in Australia, four in China, and one each in Malaysia, Maldives, the Philippines, and Singapore, respectively.
ULI and Hines, the global real estate firm, have announced details about the finalist teams and the jury for the third annual ULI Hines Student Competition – Europe. Six multidisciplinary teams have been selected from a range of applications from across Europe to participate in this prestigious student competition for integrated and multidisciplinary urban regeneration. The teams have been drawn from an eclectic mix of universities, business schools, and other education establishments to encourage diversity in the real estate sector.
ULI announced that it will be expanding its Asia Pacific footprint to include Vietnam. To align with its ambitions to grow its presence and membership and establish a locally led council of industry experts, the Institute has formed a ULI Vietnam committee.
ULI has announced the 2022 New Real Estate Vanguard, made up of ten outstanding contributors to the real estate sector from across the European region. Selected by the European Young Leaders Group of the ULI and Property EU, each will be featured in the second annual Real Estate Vanguard podcast series.
