John L Renne

John L. Renne is an editor of Transit Oriented Development: Making It Happen (Ashgate, 2009); an early research professor of planning and urban studies at the University of New Orleans; and managing director of the TOD Group LLC, an investment, development, and consulting firm specializing in TOD. He recently led a national study titled “TOD and Joint Development: Legal Issues and Case Studies”; a report with the same name is to be published as part of the Legal Research Digest series by the Transportation Research Board’s Transit Cooperative Research Program.

Transit-oriented development (TOD) communities require supportive policies at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. While supportive policy is necessary, partnership among stakeholders is also vital for creating TODs.
