ULI trustee James J. Curtis III, cofounder and managing partner of the Bristol Group Inc., a San Francisco–based real estate investment firm, is the new chairman of the ULI Foundation. He began his term July 1.
Curtis replaces James Klingbeil, who served as the foundation chairman for the past six years.
A member of ULI for 30 years and a trustee for 13, Curtis has served the institute in many capacities, including terms as chairman of the ULI council program, the ULI Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition, the Small Scale Development Council, and the Awards for Excellence Management Committee. He has served on ULI’s Awards for Excellence jury, Inclusivity Task Force, Executive Committee, and Policy and Practice Committee. He has contributed generously to ULI’s program of work involving infrastructure by supporting activities to foster the integration of transportation and land use planning.
The mission of the ULI Foundation is to serve as the philanthropic source for ULI. The foundation’s programs raise endowment funds, major gifts, and annual fund contributions to support the key initiatives and priorities of the institute. Curtis was elected chairman of the ULI Foundation by the ULI trustees at the Spring Meeting in May.
