ULI Earns 2020 Energy Star Award for Excellence

ULI has received the 2020 Excellence in Energy Star Promotion Award for its efforts in promoting energy-efficient and sustainable buildings, and its thought leadership on energy conservation throughout the real estate sector.

ULI has received the 2020 Excellence in Energy Star Promotion Award for its efforts in promoting energy-efficient and sustainable buildings, and its thought leadership on energy conservation throughout the real estate sector. The Energy Star Excellence in Promotion Award is given to organizations that planned and executed outstanding marketing or consumer education campaigns on Energy Star and made important contributions to energy efficiency.

Through the ULIGreenprint Center for Building Performance,ULI has promoted the use of Energy Star across its network of real estatepartners. ULI was awarded the prize for its advancement of energy efficiencygoals through its Tenant Energy Optimization Program (TEOP), incorporating Energy Star highlights and metrics in its Greenprint Performance Report, and regularly communicating Energy Star updates to ULI members.

ULI’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance is recognized as a community of innovative real estate owners and investors coming together to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions and build asset value. The over 40 members of Greenprint hold over 2 billion square feet (190 million sq m) of office, multifamily, industrial, retail, and hotel property in 10,000-plus buildings in the portfolio located across 32 countries. Greenprint members own over $750 billion (€674 billion) of real estate assets under management—almost 4 percent of the value of high-quality commercial properties globally.

This year eleven Greenprint members were recognized as 2020 ENERGY STAR Award Winners. Those members include: Boston Properties (Partner of the Year), CommonWealth Partners (Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence), Hudson Pacific Properties (Partner of the Year), Jamestown (Partner of the Year), JLL (Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence), Kilroy Realty Corporation (Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence), LaSalle Investment Management (Partner of the Year), LBA Realty/LBA Logistics (Partner of the Year), SL Green Realty Corporation (Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence), and Tishman Speyer (Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence). Two ongoing Greenprint Center’sinitiatives are the annual Greenprint Performance Report, one of thelargest global collections of transparent, verifiable, and comprehensive dataabout the environmental performance of buildings, providing aggregatebenchmarks, best practices, and performance trends for Greenprint member companies;and the Tenant Energy Optimization Program, which helps owners, tenants, andother stakeholders work together to integrate energy efficiency into tenantspace design and construction during fit-outs to achieve excellent returns inthe form of energy conservation and cost savings.

The Greenprint Center is also a global leader on energy efficiency, releasing reports such as Embedding Sustainability in Real Estate Transactions, Unlocking Hidden Value in Class B/C Office Buildings, and Embodied Carbon in Building Materials for Real Estate.
