Debra March, the two-time Mayor of Henderson, Nevada’s second-largest city, has been named as the chair of ULI Nevada for a two-year term. March stepped down as Mayor in 2023.

As a resident for more than 40 years, Debra March has dedicated her career to serving the State of Nevada. Her service to the Silver State began after graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), first as a park ranger, then as a social worker and economic development officer. She served as executive director of UNLV’s Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies for 12 years, where she turned it into a highly regarded educational program, supporting the Nevada real estate industry. She expanded the executive and advisory boards, and initiated a mentor program, internships, and the annual Career Explorations Forum.

March has distinguished herself as a trailblazer with the City of Henderson as a Planning Commissioner, then councilwoman and Mayor for two terms. Under her Mayoral terms, Henderson, Nevada’s second-largest city, was recognized as one of the safest cities and best places to live in the nation. Her ability to establish a vision and develop a plan resulted in a robust period of economic development and in numerous accolades for a high quality of life.

As chair of Southern Nevada Strong, the first-ever regional plan, her collaborative approach helped to connect jobs, transportation and housing, and opened the opportunity for critical federal funding, making Southern Nevada a better place for everyone to live. She served as chairwoman of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), chairwoman of Southern Nevada board of commissioners and as Chairwoman of the Clark County Regional Flood Control District board of directors. She is also a member of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce (HCC) board of directors.

March will also speak about her leadership at the 2024 ULI Fall Meeting in Las Vegas.
