Two-time governor of Florida Jeb Bush will deliver the closing keynote address at the ULI Fall Meeting in Chicago November 5–8. Prior to his career in politics, Bush was a partner in what became the largest full-service commercial real estate company in south Florida. He is currently the head of a consulting company whose clients range from technology startups to Fortune 500 companies.
Chicago native Sam Zell, founder of Equity Group Investments and chairman of Equity International, will also present keynote addresses. In his planned address, titled “Creation of an Entrepreneur,” Zell will share the personal experiences, tough decisions, and business strategy that led to his success.
Other speakers will include the following:
- Dan Pelino, a leader of IBM’s business in the government, education, health care, and life sciences industries, will share his views on how technology is reshaping education and health care and transforming cities.
- Ronald J. Daniels, president of Johns Hopkins University; Sir Keith O’Nions, president and rector of Imperial College London; and Stephen J. Toope, president and vice chancellor of the University of British Columbia, will speak on a panel about the role of universities in development.
- ULI’s Changing World Speaker Series will feature innovators from the energy, agriculture, transportation, and crowdfunding arenas, including the following: Russ Conser, former “lead game-changer” at Shell Oil Company; Ron Finley, cofounder of L.A. Green Grounds, also known as “the guerrilla gardener; ” Gabe Klein, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation; and Elton Rivas, cofounder and president of One Spark.
- At ULI’s “Shark Tank” event, investment proposals will be critiqued by a panel of potential investors, including Cia Buckley, chief investment officer of Dune Real Estate Partners; Patricia R. Healy, principal of Hyde Street Holdings; and Robert C. Lieber, executive managing director of Island Capital Group. (Submit your proposals.)
